What Allergy & Hayfever Relief 10mg tablets are and what they are used for?

Allergy & Hayfever Relief 10mg tablets block the effects of a substance called histamine in the body, which is involved in allergic reactions. It is used to treat hay fever, year-round allergies such as dust or pet allergies, and skin conditions like urticaria. Allergy & Hayfever Relief 10mg tablets relieve symptoms like sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, itchy eyes, and skin rashes.

How to take Allacan tablets?

Follow the table instructions to correct dosage, Do not take more medicine than the label tell you.

Age Dose
Children under 6 years: Not Recommended
Children 6-12 years: Half a tablet twice daily.
Adults and children aged 12 years and over: Take one capsule once a day. Do not chew the capsule. Swallow the capsule with a glass of water.

What Cetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets contain

Ingredients

Each tablet contains the active ingredients Cetirizine Hydrochloride 10 mg.

Other ingredients: lactose monohydrate, maize starch, pregelatinised starch, purified talc, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E171) and macrogol.

Warnings and precautions

  • Do not take more than the recommended dose.
  • Do not give to children under 6 years.
  • Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking allacan tablets if:
    •  you are a patient with renal insufficiency, please ask your doctor for advice; if necessary, you will take a
      lower dose. The new dose will be determined by your doctor.
    • you have problems passing urine (like spinal cord problems or prostate or bladder problems), please ask your doctor for advice.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Allacan hayfever and allergy tablets can have side effects, but not everybody gets them.

Stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical help if you experience:

  • Common side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people)
    • Somnolence (sleepiness)
    • Headache
    • Dizziness
    • Dry mouth
    • Fatigue
    • Nausea
    • Pharyngitis, rhinitis (in children)
    • Diarrhoea
  • Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people)
    • Agitation
    • Paraesthesia (abnormal feelings of the skin)
    • Abdominal pain
    • Pruritus (itchy skin), rash
    • Asthenia (extreme fatigue), malaise
