What is Hedrin Once Liquid Treatment?
Hedrin Once Liquid Gel eliminates head lice and their eggs. It is not a chemical poison but works by physically smothering the lice. It also contains Penetrol which helps the product to penetrate louse eggs in order to kill them. Hedrin Once liquid Gel has been shown to work with only one application but a further check should be carried out one week after application to make sure that no lice or eggs have managed to escape the coating. If any live lice are discovered then the treatment can be re-applied. The gel can safely be used as often as required without lice developing resistance.
What is Head lice?
- Headlice vary in size according to their age. They may be between 1/2 mm and 3mm long (from the size of a printed full stop up to the size of a printed full stop up to the size of a sesame seed). Head lice can be difficult to spot because they can match their colour to that of the environment.
- Lice live close to the scalp where they feed on blood and this can cause the scalp to itch.
- Head lice cannot jump, fly or swim and can only be acquired by direct head to head contact. This is why lice are commonly found on the head of children and why it is important to check the heads of all the family members when head lice are found.
- Head lice only live on humans and have no preference for clean or dirty hair.
- Once a louse has hatched, the empty case (known as a nit) will remain glued to the hair shaft. Nits are completely harmless and can be removed with the fingers or a fine toothed comb.

How to use Hedrin Once?
Hedrin Once is suitable for adults and children aged 6 months and over.
How to apply:
- Cover the shoulders with a towel.
- Shake the bottle well before each use.
- Apply sufficient gel evenly over DRY hair, to ensure that the scalp and hair are fully covered and the hair is Saturated. If you are using the spray pack this should be held approximately 10 cm away from the hair.
- Work into the hair with the fingers or an ordinary comb spreading the gel thoroughly and evenly from the roots to tips.
- Leave on the hair for atleast 15 minutes (or longer if more convenient).
- Before Wetting, apply shampoo directly to the surface of the hair, ensuring full coverage. The gel needs to be fully coated with shampoo in order to remove it, as the product repels water. If the hair is rinsed before shampoo is applied the gel removal will be ineffective.
Some products for the treatment of head lice are flammable when on the hair, and can ignite and cause serious harm in the presence of an open flame or other source of ignition, such as when lighting cigarettes. The user of these products should keep away from people who are smoking, and open flames or other sources of ignition, including in the morning after an overnight application, until the hair is washed.
