Maloff Protect 250mg/100mg – 36 Tablets

£58.00

When infected mosquitoes bite, they pass the malaria parasite into the bloodstream.

Maloff Protect and other antimalarial drugs work by killing the parasite, preventing you from developing malaria.

Maloff Protect has to be taken as a complete course to be effective. Maloff Protect should be taken 1 or 2 days before you leave, at the same time once a day while you are away, and for 7 days after you leave the malaria area.

Stopping Maloff Protect early puts you at risk of getting malaria as it takes 7 days to ensure that any parasites in your blood following a bite from an infected mosquito are killed.

We need you to complete a few simple questions before adding this to your basket.

Maloff Protect works by killing malaria parasites in your body. If taken before you are bitten, it can prevent you from becoming infected.

With Maloff Protect (made with Atovaquone/Proguanil), you can get malaria protection direct from your pharmacy, making your travel preparations even simpler.

Preventing malaria is just one of the things to think about before you travel. There might also be some recommended vaccinations.

Start the course of Maloff Protect 1 or 2 days before you travel, so that the drugs are in your system, ready to fight off any malaria parasites.

Keep taking the pills at the same time every day to ensure the protection is effective, until the course is finished (7 days after you return to a malaria-free area). Take Maloff Protect with food or a milky drink, where possible.

If you vomit within one hour of taking your Maloff Protect tablet, take another dose straight away. If you don’t start vomiting until more than one hour after taking Maloff Protect, do not take another Maloff Protect tablet until your next dose is due, as it is likely that Maloff Protect will already be in your system.

Malaria prevention is without doubt the best course of action to take; however, there may be some cases when Maloff Protect isn’t the right choice for you.

  • Swollen eyelids, face, lips, tongue or other part of the body.

Severe skin reactions:

  • Severe widespread rash with blisters and peeling skin, particularly occurring around the mouth, nose, eyes and genitals.
  • Skin rash, which may blister and looks like small targets (central dark spots, surrounded by paler area with a dark ring around the edge) (erythema multiforme).

Warnings and precautions

  • If you are sick within one hour of taking your Maloff protect tablet, take another dose straight away. If you don’t start vomiting until more than one hour after taking Maloff protect, do not take another Maloff protect tablet until your next dose is due, as it is likely that Maloff protect will already be in your system.
  • If you have been vomiting or have diarrhoea, it is especially important to use extra bite prevention, such as repellents and bed nets. The Maloff protect you have taken may not be as effective because you may absorb less than you need.
  • It is very important to take the full course of Maloff protect. If you have to take extra tablets due to sickness, you may need to get some more.
