What Motusol 1 % w/w Gel is and what it is used for
Motusol 1% w/w Gel is a medication that contains diclofenac as its active ingredient. Diclofenac is classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID), belonging to a group of medicines used to alleviate pain and reduce inflammation.
This gel is primarily intended for use by adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over. It is specifically formulated to provide symptomatic relief in various conditions, including:
- Acute strains, sprains, or contusions resulting from blunt traumas: Motusol 1% w/w Gel can help alleviate pain associated with these types of injuries.
- Osteoarthritis of knee and finger joints: It can be used to relieve pain in the soft tissues near the joints, such as bursae, tendons, tendon sheaths, ligaments, muscle insertions, and joint capsules.
- Epicondylitis (commonly known as tennis elbow or golfer’s elbow): This gel can be applied to the affected area to reduce inflammation and relieve pain caused by tendon insertions in the elbow region.
- Acute muscular pain, particularly in the back area: Motusol 1% w/w Gel can provide local relief for acute muscular pain, helping to alleviate discomfort in the back region.

Ingredients
The active substance is diclofenac.
– 1 g contains 11.6 mg diclofenac diethylamine corresponding to 10 mg diclofenac sodium.
– The other ingredients are carbomer, cocoyl caprylocaprate, macrogol cetostearyl ether, liquid
paraffin, diethylamine, isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol (E1520), fragrance (containing
citronellol, geraniol, benzyl alcohol, linalool, limonene, citral, farnesol, coumarin, eugenol),
purified water.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Some rare and very rare side effects may be serious.
If you experience any of the following signs of allergy, stop using Motusol and tell a doctor or pharmacist immediately.
- Skin rash with blisters; hives (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 people).
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people).
- Wheezing, shortness of breath or feeling of tightness in the chest (asthma) (may affect up to 1 in 10,000 people).

Skin rash, itching, reddening, eczema, dermatitis (inflammation of the skin) including contact dermatitis.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Motusol.
You are more likely to get asthma attacks, local skin or mucous membrane swelling (so- called quincke oedema) or hives than other patients.
If you suffer from asthma, hay fever, swelling of the nasal membrane (so- called nasal polyps) or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic respiratory tract infections (particularly associated with hay fever- like symptoms) or hypersensitivity to other painkillers and anti- rheumatic medicines of any kind.
