Precautions before Using Canesten Pessary – 200 mg

Before using Canesten® 200mg Pessary, it is essential to take certain precautions. For instance, if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients in Canesten® 200mg Pessary, you should not use this product. Additionally, the medication may be less effective during your period, so it is advisable not to use it at this time.

It is crucial to consult your doctor before using Canesten® 200mg Pessary if you are uncertain whether you have thrush or if this is your first time experiencing these symptoms. Moreover, if you have had more than two thrush infections within the last six months, you should seek medical advice. Similarly, if you or your partner have ever had a sexually transmitted disease, you should consult a doctor before using this medication.

Canesten® 200mg Pessary is not recommended for individuals aged below 16 or over 60 years. Furthermore, if you have ever had an allergic reaction to Canesten or any other vaginal antifungal products, you should avoid using this medication.

In case of the following symptoms, such as irregular or abnormal vaginal bleeding, blood-stained discharge, ulcers, blisters, or sores of the vagina or vulva, lower abdominal pain, pain or difficulty in passing urine, fever or chills, feeling sick or vomiting, diarrhea, and foul-smelling discharge from the vagina, Canesten® 200mg Pessary may not be the appropriate treatment for you.

It is vital to note that following the instructions provided by your doctor or pharmacist is crucial to achieving optimal results with Canesten® 200mg Pessary.

Directions for use

One pessary should be inserted into the vagina for six consecutive nights using the applicator provided.

Alternatively, two pessaries may be inserted into the vagina for three consecutive nights.

Canesten® 200mg Pessary is formulated with clotrimazole as the active ingredient, present in a concentration of 200mg. In addition, the product contains a number of other ingredients, including calcium lactate pentahydrate, maize starch, crospovidone, colloidal anhydrous silica, lactic acid, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, hypromellose and microcrystalline cellulose. These ingredients work together to provide effective treatment for vaginal thrush.

  • Canesten 200mg Pessary may cause side effects, although not everyone may experience them.
  • Allergic reactions may occur soon after using the medicine. If redness, burning, pain, itching, or swelling worsens, or if an allergic reaction occurs, stop using the product and contact your doctor or nearest hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department.
  • Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include rash, difficulty swallowing or breathing, swelling of the lips, face, throat, or tongue, weakness, dizziness, fainting, or nausea.
  • After using the pessary, some side effects may include itching, rash, swelling, redness, discomfort, burning, irritation, vaginal peeling, discharge, bleeding, abdominal or vulvovaginal pain, and nausea.
  • If you experience any of the above effects, notify your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
