What is the Scholl Verruca & Wart Treatment Pen and How does it work?
The Scholl Verruca & Wart Treatment Pen is a Self-Care Medical Device clinically proven to treat verrucas & warts on hands and feet. The Treatment Pen contains a gel, based on the Active Medical Ingredient TCA- Active, which induces peeling of the infected skin. The thickened skin and its causative virus are removed and new healthy skin will appear. The one-click pen comes with a precision tip for targeted application. A blue colouring agent is added to the gel to further facilitate precise application and to prevent accidental application to healthy skin.
Who can use the Scholl verruca & wart Treatment Pen?
The pen can be used by adults and children from 4 years old. During pregnancy or breastfeeding or if you are diabetic, have poor blood circulation or skin diseases it is recommended to consult your general practitioner prior to use.
How to use the Verruca & Wart Treatment Pen?
Get ready for treatment:
- To remove the cap, turn the cap to align the arrows and then pull the cap from the pen. Push the button several times, with 5 seconds in between. Hold the pen vertically with the tip facing downwards and allow the gel to fill the tip.
- When used for the first time:
- It may take up to 50 clicks to disperse first drop of gel (this is to build up sufficient pressure to break the airtight seal and release the gel into the tip)
- Apply the gel first on one wart or verruca before treating multiple warts / verrucas to experience the effect on your skin. Start treating another wart or verruca only if you didn’t experience any side effects (normally within 5 days.) If there are multiple warts or verrucas clos to one another (within 1 cm), wait until the skin has returned to normal before treating another one (this can take up to 6 weeks).
Apply the treatment:
- Carefully apply one blue drop (one click) of treatment gel strictly on the wart. If one drop does not cover the entire wart, apply another drop of gel.
- If the gel accidentally makes contact with healthy skin, wash the entire area with soap and water to prevent irritation or burning feeling of the healthy skin. You may use an ointment like vaseline in order to protect the surrounding area before applying the gel.
- Let the gel dry for 10-15 minutes before putting on socks, shoes or gloves.
- Carefully wipe the tip with a tissue to remove any excess of gel. Recap the pen firmly and misalign the arrows.
Repeat treatment twice a day for 4 days. For children with small warts apply the gel once a day.
After treatment:
- Do not expose the treated area to sunlight until the skin has returned to normal.
- If the verruca or wart does not disappear completely, repeat the treatment after a 4 day break. You can repeat this treatment schedule up to 4 times if required to remove the wart or verruca completely.

TCA-Active (based on Trichloroacetic Acid), Carbopol, Methylene Blue, Aqua.
What are the Possible Side Effects?
When used on healthy skin, stinging, slight burning or painful sensation of the treated area may occur, which may cause skin damage. Should you experience a side effect, treatment should be stopped immediately. Wash the skin with soap and water to prevent irritation. Complications are infrequent. It is extremely rare that a permanent mark or scar will occur. This could mostly be related to an abnormality such as healing disorders or infection. If so, stop treatment and consult your general practitioner.
