When NOT to take this product?

Do NOT take this product if you are allergic to pork, any pig product or to any of the other ingredients (see ingredients tab for full list). Take care with this product if you have a rare bowel condition called ‘fibrosing colonopathy, which causes your gut to narrow. It has been reported in patients with Cystic Fibrosis taking high dose pancreatin products. If you have cystic fibrosis and take in excess of 10,000 lipase units per kilogram per day and have unusual abdominal symptoms or changes in abdominal symptoms, seek advice from your doctor. Seek advice from your doctor if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. Always read the patient information leaflet before using a new medicine to ensure that it is suitable for you.

How much Creon 10000 to take?

It’s essential to heed your doctor’s or dietitian’s guidance regarding the number of capsules to consume. If advised to increase dosage, do it gradually. Consult your healthcare provider if you experience persistent fatty stools or abdominal discomfort.

When to take Creon 10000?

As for timing, always ingest Creon 10000 during or immediately after meals or snacks, accompanied by ample water intake.

How to take Creon 10000?

  • Swallow the capsules whole or
  • Alternatively, open the capsules and blend the granules (without crushing) with acidic liquids like apple, orange, or pineapple juice, or soft foods such as applesauce or yogurt. Consume the mixture promptly, without chewing.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids daily.
  • Avoid mixing with non-acidic substances or crushing the pellets, as this may cause mouth irritation or alter Creon’s efficacy.
  • Refrain from holding Creon capsules or their contents in your mouth, and do not store the mixture

Dose Administration

Regarding duration, continue taking Creon 10000 until instructed otherwise by your doctor. For many patients, pancreatic enzyme supplements are a lifelong necessity.

In case of accidental overdose, increase water intake and seek immediate medical attention.

If you miss a dose, simply wait until your next meal and take the usual number of capsules. Avoid doubling up on doses. Stick to your regular dosing schedule for consistent results.

 

What are the Ingredients in Creon 10000ui Capsules

The main component in Creon 10000 is pancreatin.

Each capsule contains small granules, coated to withstand stomach acids, containing pancreatin 150 mg. This amount is equivalent to:

  • Lipase: 10,000 PhEur units
  • Amylase: 8,000 PhEur units
  • Protease: 600 PhEur units

The granules are coated with a mixture comprising macrogol 4000, hypromellose phthalate, dimeticone, triethyl citrate, and cetyl alcohol.

The capsules themselves consist of gelatin, along with iron oxides (E172), titanium dioxide (E171), and sodium lauryl sulfate for color and stability.

Can Creon cause side effects?

Like all medicines, Creon 10000 might cause side effects, but not everyone will experience them.

If you have severe or persistent abdominal pain, it’s crucial to contact your doctor immediately.

If you notice any unusual symptoms in your abdomen while taking Creon 10000, it’s essential to inform your doctor.

Very common side effects (experienced by more than 1 in 10 patients) include stomach pains.

Common side effects (affecting 1 to 10 patients out of 100) may include diarrhea, constipation, nausea, and bloating.

Less common side effects (occurring in 1 to 10 patients out of 1000) may involve skin reactions like a rash.

During usage, some patients may experience itching with or without a rash, allergic reactions (which could be severe), or severe and persistent abdominal pain (known as Fibrosing colonopathy), although the frequency of these occurrences is not known.

In rare cases of extremely high doses, some patients have exhibited elevated levels of uric acid in their blood and urine.
