The name of your medicine is Dioralyte Natural/ Citrus/Blackcurrant Sachets (called Dioralyte).

Dioralyte works by replacing the water and salts lost from your body when you have diarrhoea. It contains glucose and salts (these are sodium chloride, potassium chloride and
disodium hydrogen citrate). The powder is mixed with water before taking.

Dioralyte Sachets Blackcurrant contains:

Sodium chloride, potassium chloride, glucose, disodium hydrogen citrate, silicone dioxide, saccharin sodium, blackcurrant flavour.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Dioralyte relief can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. However, if you notice anything unusual talk to your doctor or pharmacist. You should not normally have any side effects.

Stop taking Dioralyte relief and see a doctor or go to a hospital straight away if: 

  • You have an allergic reaction. The signs may include: a rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue.

Caution when using Dioralyte Sachets Blackcurrant:

  • If you are suffering from intestinal obstruction, diabetes, kidney or liver failure, or are on a low potassium or sodium diet, ask your doctor before use
  • Infants under 2 years of age should be seen by a doctor as soon as possible
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Take special care with Dioralyte relief check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
  • You have something called an ‘electrolyte imbalance’ (unusual levels of salts in your body).
  • You are on a low potassium or sodium diet.
