WHAT IBULEVE MAX STRENGTH PAIN RELIEF 10% GEL IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?

Ibuleve Maximum Strength is a powerful anti-inflammatory painkiller that can be absorbed through the skin for targeted relief. It is specially formulated to treat a range of musculoskeletal conditions, such as backache, rheumatic or muscular pain, sprains, strains, and neuralgia. Additionally, it can also alleviate the pain associated with common arthritic conditions.

Ibuleve Maximum Strength is suitable for use by adults, the elderly, and children over the age of 12 years. It can also be used by children under 12 years of age if recommended by their doctor. The active ingredient in this product is ibuprofen, which belongs to a group of medicines known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Ibuprofen works by relieving pain and reducing swelling and inflammation.

Before using Ibuleve Maximum Strength, it is important to ensure that it is suitable for you to use. If you are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients, suffer from asthma, rhinitis, urticaria, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, do not use this product. It should also not be used on broken, damaged, infected, or diseased skin.

As Ibuleve Maximum Strength is delivered through the skin, directly over the painful area, there is less risk of complications that may occur when ibuprofen is taken by mouth. However, in rare cases, there may still be some risks involved, particularly if you have a stomach ulcer, kidney problems, or asthma, or have had a bad reaction to aspirin or ibuprofen taken orally. In such cases, seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist before using this product.

It is important to take special care when using Ibuleve Maximum Strength. It should only be applied to the skin, and not to be used on children under 12 years old unless advised by a doctor. The gel should be kept away from the eyes, nose, and mouth. Additionally, do not smoke or go near naked flames when using this product, as fabric that has been in contact with the gel may burn more easily and is a serious fire hazard.

If you are taking blood pressure-lowering drugs, anticoagulants, aspirin, or other NSAIDs by mouth, discuss this with your doctor or pharmacist beforehand. It is also essential to inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including those obtained without a prescription.

HOW TO USE IBULEVE MAXIMUM STRENGTH?

  1. Open the tube: Before using the gel for the first time, unscrew the cap and use the sharp point of the cap to pierce the membrane in the neck of the tube. The 50g pack also contains a tube key.
  2. Fit the tube squeezer key: To make it easier and more economical to use the gel, a yellow tube squeezer key is provided. To fit it to the tube, ensure that the nozzle has been pierced using the point of the cap. Then, slide the slit of the key over the folded end of the tube.
  3. Dispense the gel: Once the key is fitted, turn it carefully to roll up the tube until the required amount of gel has been expelled. This will help you to dispense the gel more easily and economically. Always replace the cap after use, leaving the key in place on the end of the tube.
  4. Apply the gel: To use the gel for adults, the elderly, and children over 12 years old, follow these steps:
  • Use the gel up to three times a day, or as often as advised by your doctor.
  • Lightly apply the gel to intact skin over the painful area.
  • Squeeze out a 2 to 5 cm length of gel (50 to 125 mg ibuprofen) onto the affected area, enough to thinly cover it, then massage gently until absorbed.
  • Wash your hands after use, unless you’re treating them.
  • Carry on using the gel in this way until your condition gets better.
  • If your symptoms worsen or continue for more than one week, discuss this with your doctor before continuing treatment.

The active ingredient is: ibuprofen (10% w/w).

The other ingredients are: industrial methylated spirit, carbomers, diethylamine and purified water.

Do not use Ibuleve Max Strength Pain Relief 10% Gel:

  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients in this product;
  • if you are asthmatic, or suffer from rhinitis (allergic runny nose) or urticaria (hives) and have ever had a bad reaction to aspirin, ibuprofen or other NSAIDs in the past;
  • if you are pregnant or breast-feeding;
  • on broken, damaged, infected or diseased skin;
  • if you have severe joint pain of recent onset that is not related to an injury or period of overuse;
  • if you feel ill, have a temperature or any other symptoms that accompany the pain.

Before applying this product for the first time, make sure it is suitable for you to use:

Because this product is delivered through the skin, directly over the painful area, there is less risk of the complications that sometimes occur when ibuprofen (or a similar anti-inflammatory painkiller) is taken by mouth. However, in rare cases you may be at risk:

  • if you have a stomach ulcer (also called a peptic or gastric ulcer);
  • if you have ever had kidney problems;
  • if you have ever had asthma;
  • if you have ever had a bad reaction to aspirin or ibuprofen taken by mouth.

If any of the above apply to you, only use this product on advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
