What is Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressing?

Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressing is a topical wound dressing impregnated with an ointment containing 10% povidone iodine. The dressing also contains polyethylene glycol and purified water.

What is Inadine PVP-I Non-Adherent Dressing used for?

INADINE dressing is designed to protect the wound, even if infected. Inadine dressing is indicated for the management of ulcerative wounds and may also be used for the prevention of infection in minor burns and minor traumatic skin loss injuries. It provides a long lasting antiseptic effect, which helps manage infection by bacterial, protozoal and fungal organisms over a period of time. It is suitable for use in adults and children. In heavily infected wounds, it may also be used in conjunction with systemic antibiotics.

Directions for use

Site Preparation

  1. Prepare the wound according to wound management protocol.
  2. Ensure skin surrounding the wound is dry.

Dressing Application

  1. Peel open the package and remove the INADINE dressing with sterile forceps.
  2. Remove first backing paper.
  3. Peel off the dressing from the remaining backing paper and apply it directly to the wound.
  4. Cover and secure with a secondary dressing of choice.

Dressing Change and Removal

It is essential for proper wound management to avoid trauma to the intact skin.

  1. When INADINE dressing turns white this indicates loss of antiseptic efficacy and therefore the dressing should be changed. It may be changed up to two times daily in the initial phase or with highly infected wounds or wounds producing large amounts of exudate.
  2. Removal may be helped by gentle stretching of the dressing at diagonally opposite corners.

Warnings and precautions

Inadine Dressings should not be used:

  • Where there is a known iodine hypersensitivity (allergy)
  • Before and after the use of radio-iodine (until permanent healing)
  • If you are being treated for kidney problems.
  • In Pregnant and breastfeeding women
  • In cases of Durhing’s herpetiform dermatitis (a specific, rare skin disease).
