Surgical spirits is used to prevent bad sores and for hardening the skin of the feet. You should apply topically to the skin with cotton wool.

Active ingredient: Methyl salicylate 0.5% v/v.
Also contains: Industrial methylated spirit 95% v/v, diethyl phthalate and virgin castor oil.
Side effects
- There are no known side effects from using this medicine as directed.
- Accidental swallowing may cause serious side effects which may not be obvious straight away.
- If you notice any side effects, stop use and tell your doctor or pharmacist. They will instruct you on what to do.
Warnings and precautions
- This medicine is flammable, keep away from naked flames.
- If you accidentally swallow some go to hospital immediately, even if you feel well. Take this container with you to show which medicine you have swallowed.
- This medicine contains 90.25% v/v ethanol in each application. It may cause burning sensation on damaged skin.
