What is Senokot syrup

Senokot Syrup is a medication that relieves constipation temporarily and starts working the next day. Senokot Syrup might be the answer for you if you suffer from constipation and are looking for relief that will work quickly.

How does Senokot Syrup treat constipation?

Senna, a natural substance made from the leaves and fruit of the Senna plant, is the active ingredient in Senokot Syrup. By causing your bowel muscles to contract and your stools to go through your body more quickly, this natural chemical helps to treat constipation.

Senokot Syrup will typically only need to be taken two to three times each week. Unless specifically instructed to do so by your doctor or pharmacist, you should not take this medicine for longer than 1 to 2 weeks. The recommended dosage for this drug is as follows:

Those over the age of 12 should take one or two 5ml spoonfuls at night.

6 to 11-year-olds: Take one or two 5 ml spoonfuls at night. Only give this to your child if instructed to do so by a doctor or a pharmacist.

2 to 6 year olds: Half to one 5 ml teaspoon at night. Only give this to your child if instructed to do so by a doctor or a pharmacist.
