What Solpadeine Plus Capsules do?

Solpadeine Plus Capsules can be used in patients over 12 years of age for the short-term relief of moderate pain. It is used for short-term relief of migraine, headache, dental pain, period pain, strains & sprains, backache, rheumatic pain and sciatica. It is not recommended to give this medicine to children under 12 years of age and can be used for a maximum of 3 days.

How to take Solpadeine Plus Capsules?

Refer the table below for the instruction of how to use this medicine:

Age Dosage Recommended
Adults Swallow 2 capsules every 4-6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 8 capsules in 24 hours.
Elderly A reduced dose may be required. Do not take more than 8 capsules in 24 hours.
Children aged 16-18 years old Swallow 1-2 capsules every 6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 8 capsules in 24 hours.
Children aged 12-15 years: Swallow 1 capsules every 6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 4 capsules in 24 hours.

Each Solpadeine Plus Capsules contains:

The Active Ingredients contains Paracetamol 500mg, Codeiene Phosphate Hemihydrate 8 mg and Caffeine 30 mg. The Other Ingredients are Maize starch, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide (E 171), erythrosine (E 127), patent blue V (E 131), quinoline yellow (E 104) and Gelatin.

If you experience this stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if you experience: :

  1. Constipation
  2. Severe abdominal pain
  3. Dry mouth
  4. Nausea
  5. Vomiting
  6. Nervousness
  7. Dizziness
  8. Irritability
  9. Drowsiness or Restlessness
  10. Allergic reaction which may be severe such as skin rash and itching.
  11. Skin rash or peeling or mouth ulcers; itching or sweating.

 

Caution before taking Solpadeine Plus:

  • Do not take with any other paracetamol – containing products.
  • Do not take more than the stated dose and do not take every day for more than 3 days unless told to do so by your doctor.
  • Contains codeine: regular use for long periods of time may result in symptoms such as restlessness and irritability when you stop taking this medicine. If you need to use this product all the time, see your doctor straight away.

Solpadeine Plus should not be taken if:

You are sensitive to paracetamol, codeine or to any of the other ingredients listed above.

Please see your doctor before you take Solpadeine Plus if:

  • You are taking drugs prescribed for depression (MAOIs).
  • You are taking metoclopramide or domperidone – used to treat nausea and vomiting.
  • You are taking colestyramine – used to treat high cholesterol.
  • You have severe liver or kidney disease.
  • You are taking anti-coagulants (drugs to thin the blood e.g. warfarin) and you need to take a painkiller on a daily basis over a long period. However, you can take occasional doses of Solpadeine Plus.
  • The tablets contain lactose. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product.
  • If your headaches become persistent, see your doctor.

If you are pregnant or breast feeding:

Please see your doctor before you take Solpadeine Plus if you are pregnant. Medicines can affect the unborn baby. Always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicines in pregnancy. You can take Solpadeine Plus whilst breast feeding.

  • Do not use this medicine after the “Use by end of” date shown on the pack.
  • Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children
